to the Fr. Henry J. Koren, C.S.Sp. Building located
at 718 Fifth Avenue.

Adjusted Medical DUFLEX Price
Tags
As you may recall, this past spring the University
community was notified that the July 1, 2009 medical
benefits price tags would be deferred until further
notice. In light of the recent announcement regarding
salary increases, this is to advise you that the
medical price tags will go into effect the pay
period beginning September 7, 2009 and will be
reflected in the pay of September 25, 2009. The

will receive a preferred discount rate of 25%

that provides over forty-five financial calculators

Federal Minimum Wage Increase, effective July
24, 2009:
Effective July 24, 2009, the federal minimum
wage increased to $7.25 per hour. This change
reflects the third and final federal minimum wage
increase as amended under the Fair Labor Standards
Act (FLSA).
The University is required, under the FLSA, to
pay at least the federal minimum wage to hourly
non-exempt employees for all hours worked.
Duquesne University’s living wage for non-student
workers remains set at $9.50 per hour.

Duquesne University recently entered into a contract
agreement with the Online recruitment web site
HigherEdJobs.com. The contract allows us to electronically
post unlimited faculty and administrative staff
search announcements to the web site -one of the
largest job databases focused exclusively on college
and university positions.
Currently, the site receives nearly 900,000 hits
per month and lists on average 10,000 open positions
from a variety of colleges and universities. While
under the agreement, hiring managers will also
have access to the web site’s resume database
– a collection of nearly 50,000 active resumes
and vitae.
