TAP NO. 18: RETIREMENT BENEFITS - ALL UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES

All full-time, non-temporary, faculty, administrative/ professional, and support employees are eligible and encouraged to participate in the University-sponsored retirement plan after one year of service. Service requirements are waived for employees with fully vested contracts from a previous educational institution.

Participation is mandatory for faculty and administrative/ professional employees after one year of service and attainment of age 35, whichever is later, and for clerical/secretarial employees, participation is mandatory after five years of service and attainment of age 35, whichever is later. Employees under labor agreements should refer to the labor contract.

In addition, the University provides to all full-time and parttime University employees, Group Supplemental Retirement Annuities (SRA’s) and Optional Tax Deferred Annuities (OTA’s). Details are available through the Benefits Office.

Duquesne University reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to amend this Plan in whole or in part at any time and from time to time, or to terminate it any time, without advance notice, pursuant to the terms of the plan document. Amendments to the plan are made by the Office of Human Resource Management with the approval of the Vice President for Management and Business. Termination of the plan must be approved by the Vice President and approved by the Executive Committee of the University Board of Directors.
