In addition, the University observes all holy
days of obligation (Ascension Thursday, the
Assumption, All Saints Day, and the Feast of
the Immaculate Conception), and employees are
not required to work if any of these days falls
on a regularly scheduled work day.
Also, the University does not require that employees
work on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Holy Thursday,
Holy Saturday, the Friday following Thanksgiving,
the last regularly scheduled working day before
Christmas, and the last regularly scheduled
working day before New Year’s Day. Additional
holidays may be authorized by the President.
Employees required to work on any of the holidays/holy
days observed by the University receive an additional
day of paid vacation.
Support employees receive their regular hourly
rate for hours worked plus an additional day
of paid vacation. The additional day of paid
vacation should be used as soon as reasonably
possible and must be used within the employee’s
employment anniversary cycle. Senior Department
Heads have the option to provide payment in
lieu of an additional day of paid vacation for
support employees. Payment requires funding
to be available from the department budget and
divisional vice president approval. (Exceptions
are support employees covered by labor agreement).
Administrative employees will receive an additional
day of paid vacation. There is no provision
to provide additional payment for the time worked
in lieu of an additional day of paid vacation.
The additional day of paid vacation should be
used as soon as reasonably possible and must
be used within the employee’s employment
anniversary cycle.
Compensatory vacation days will not be paid
out upon termination of employment.
