Full-Time Non-Tenured Faculty Position

The John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant to join the faculty of our fully-accredited, entry-level master’s degree Physician Assistant Program. Responsibilities include classroom teaching, student advising, participation in Departmental and University events, evaluation of student performance, demonstration of clinical skills and research participation with publications.

Required qualifications include a Master’s degree (Doctoral degree preferred), previous university teaching experience, knowledge of the ARC-PA Accreditation Standards for Physician Assistant Education, current state licensure and willingness to participate in research. Academic rank and salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Assistant Professor
Department of Occupational Therapy


The Department of Occupational Therapy is seeking to hire a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor and a full-time Academic Fieldwork and Curriculum Coordinator in a non-tenure, clinical track. Both positions are available beginning July 1, 2010.

Our department is nationally recognized as a pioneer and leader in the development of practice-scholars who serve, do, question and lead occupational therapy. We also have a strong reputation of innovation and scholarship in educational pedagogy and long-standing community university partnerships. Learning in our lauded five and two year entry-level graduate programs is intentionally situated in clinical and community contexts. The Duquesne faculty is dedicated to maintaining an educational environment that challenges students to critically reflect on their practice and to constantly question the complex interaction of personal and contextual factors that impact occupational performance and occupational and social justice.

For the Assistant Professor position, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise as well as commitment to the dual role of scholar and educator including faculty and student mentoring and evidence of leadership. Preferences will be given to applicants with an established tradition of research and success in securing external funding. Interest in contributing to the development of an on-line OTD program is desirable. Applicants must hold a non-clinical doctoral degree or be an exceptional ABD candidate.

For the Academic Fieldwork and Curriculum Coordinator, the individual should be committed to creating a program that has national visibility and exemplifies best practices in fieldwork education. Capacity to coordinate student learning outcomes assessment and accreditation outcomes assessment as well as teach in our undergraduate and graduate educational programs is desired. The ideal candidate is an occupational therapist with a minimum of 3 years experience supervising and advising fieldwork students. Applicants must hold a masters degree. Candidates holding a clinical or non-clinical doctorate will be given preference.

We seek candidates who possess teaching experience in two or more of the following areas: physical disabilities including neurological, cognitive, biomechanical & sensorimotor conditions; kinesiology; gerontology, rehabilitation technology, and administration. All candidates must be eligible for Pennsylvania OT licensure, hold current NBCOT certification and have an earned graduate degree.

Aphasia and Neurogenic Communication Disorders

Twelve-month, full time, tenure-track appointment. Rank is open; salary is highly competitive.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Conduct programmatic research in area of interest
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
• Provide leadership to a clinical specialty program
• Advise and mentor students
• Supervise student research
• Participate in a school-wide Ph.D. program in Rehabilitation Science

Qualifications:
• Earned research doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or related area
