Duquesne University School of Law
Duquesne University invites nominations and applications
for the position of Dean of the School of Law.
Founded in 1911, the School has 31 full-time faculty
and a student body of approximately 600. It offers
full and part-time day programs, as well as an
evening program. It has several joint degree programs.
The School has an excellent relationship with
the bench and the bar.
Candidates should have an outstanding record
of legal scholarship, be eligible for a tenured
appointment in the School of Law, and have demonstrated
academic administrative and leadership skills.
Among the major responsibilities of the new dean
are:
• Enhancing the reputation of the Law School
in the legal community regionally, nationally
and internationally;
• Continuing development of its recognition
as a leading Catholic law school;
• Supporting the teaching, research and
service responsibilities of the faculty;
• Leading the faculty in evaluating curricular
and programmatic changes to improve quality;
• Managing effectively the School’s
finances and administrative operations;
• Collaborating and participating with the
Office of University Advancement in fundraising;
• Collaborating with and supporting the
University administration;
• Supporting actively the University’s
mission, including its commitment to diversity;
• Ensuring the academic and professional
development of students;
• Fostering positive relationships with
alumni, the bar and the bench.
The dean reports to the provost and is a full
participant in all of the academic councils of
the University.

Law Professor
The School of Law at Duquesne University, seeks
applicants for one entry-level, tenure-track faculty
position. The successful applicant will begin
teaching in the 2010-2011 academic year. The position
will involve teaching doctrinal classes; however,
we have yet to determine specific curricular needs
and welcome applications from all qualified applicants.
Candidates must have a strong academic background;
a record, or the promise of excellence in teaching
and scholarship; and a commitment of service to
the University, the Law School, and the community.

whose backgrounds and experience will contribute
to the diversity of the faculty are especially
encouraged to apply.
