Application Process

Duquesne University selects applicants based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities and the correlation to the requirements of a particular position. The application/resume is the main source of information concerning qualifications. Because it is not possible to interview all applicants, be as specific and as thorough as possible in your letter of interest, resume and/or employment application.

General applications for unspecified positions may be made and will be given full consideration for a period of six months. During this time period your employment history and skills will be carefully reviewed. To request an employment application, please call (412) 396-6575 or e-mail at hr.office@duq.edu.

To apply for specific open position(s): please submit a letter of interest and resume and/or an employment application specifying the job for which you are applying. You may apply for more than one position.

Only one application needs to be on file in our office, however, a separate letter of interest and resume is required for each position for which you are applying. Please reference the appropriate job number and job title.

All materials should be forwarded to: Office of Human Resource Management, Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15282-2220. If you are to be interviewed, you will be contacted by the hiring department.

You may call our job hotlines at (412) 396-5300 for administrative position descriptions or (412) 396-5400 for support staff position descriptions.

Internal Application Process
University employees are eligible to apply for other positions within the University after completing a period of one year in their current position. Anyone seeking another position prior to completing one year of service in their current position must obtain expressed permission from their department head.

University employees may apply for specific vacancies by submitting a letter of interest and resume through campus mail to the Office of Human Resource Management. The letter of interest should reference the appropriate job number and job title.

An individual who is strongly being considered for a transfer should notify their current supervisor of their intent. A reasonable notice must be given once the job has been offered and accepted. A minimum of two weeks is preferred and strongly encouraged.
